It’s Time to Stop Smoking

With the New Year just around the corner it is the ideal time to stop smoking and reclaim your health. However thinking about stopping smoking and actually stopping smoking are two different things and for the majority of smokers giving up cigarettes is one of the most difficult things that they will ever do and their attempts often result in one failed attempt after another.

This is not uncommon and if you were to ask most ex-smokers they would tell you that they needed to try a number of times or use a variety of different methods and products before they finally succeeded and reached their goal of being a non-smoker.

So however difficult or frustrating you find stopping smoking the battle is always worthwhile and with enough attempts yourself the goal of being a non-smoker can be reached and once you succeed you will notice quickly some of the benefits that come from stopping smoking.

One of the first things many people notice once they have stopped smoking is an improvement in their sense of taste and smell. Within just a few days you will probably be able to identify smokers just by their smell and understand how bad smokers smell to non smokers and your sense of taste will improve and food will taste better than you ever imagined.

More important than the improvement in your senses of taste and smell is the rapid improvement you will see in overall health and energy levels as your body begins the process of undoing the damage down through out the years from smoking. For many long-term smokers it is the first time in years that they can climb a flight of stairs or engage in any other physical activity without wheezing and coughing and over time the risk of serious and life threatening disease will also decrease.

Finally on top of the health benefits you will also be surprised at the money you save each month and will have the money to spend on yourself or your family. But first you have to decide that its time to stop smoking.

So make the decision and decide on the method you will use to quit smoking cigarettes. For some smokers it’s simply quitting smoking cold turkey while for others its with the use of nicotine replacement therapy in the form of the nicotine patch or nicotine gum. Yet others choose hypnotherapy, acupuncture or prescription medication to help them quit smoking.

As already mentioned don’t give up in your attempts to give up smoking since your life may just depend on it. So choose the day to quit smoking and the method you will use and get all the support you can get from friends and family and quit smoking and enjoy the non smoking benefits once you have kicked the habit once and for all.

Overcome Social Anxiety by Thinking Differently

Some people have no problem getting in front of a large group and speaking.

However, for many other people – this can be their very worst nightmare. Social anxiety sometimes makes us imagine ourselves making mistakes and embarrassing ourselves in front of everyone. We begin to worry about how people may judge us and whether or not they will like us. Often these racing thoughts can have a dramatic effect on our bodies too: making us blush, sweat, stutter, twitch, and a slue of other antisocial habits that make us look insecure.

The problem is our social anxiety becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Our thoughts cause us to have certain experiences, and then those experiences reinforce those same thoughts that we are not socially fit.

How can you break the cycle of social anxiety? First, you need to start reframing your experiences and thoughts in new ways. It might be true that you have a poor track record of job interviews, presentations, or dinner parties. However, just because you had some bad experiences in the past doesn’t mean that you will continue to have bad experiences in the future.

What you can do is begin to view these bad experiences as a resource to learn from and improve yourself. Try reflecting back on that one time you had a God-awful date, then ask yourself questions on how you could’ve handled the situation better.

  • What were your beliefs going into the situation? How did these beliefs affect your actions?
  • What were your beliefs about your audience? How did these beliefs affect your actions?
  • Did you come from a place of strength (“I provide value.”) or a place of weakness (“I desperately hope they like me.”)?
  • Were you too shy to fully express yourself? Why? What did you feel insecure of? (write down a list of potential anxieties)
  • Did you view the experience as a learning experience? So even if you fail, you can still take something positive away from it.

These are just some questions you may find useful when reflecting on these past experiences. The more specific your questions, the more there is to potentially learn from. You have a better memory of YOUR experiences than anyone else, so be sure to dig deep and really get to the bottom of your social anxiety.

I believe that many of the causes of our social anxiety are inside our heads. Sure, there are some situations where we may feel legitimately worried or scared (and for good reason), but there are other times where our worries and fears are irrational and have no bearing on reality.

Seriously, what is the worst that could happen if you got rejected by a girl, or an employer, or even if you made some bad speech in front of a hundred or so people. It’s not going to kill you, and what doesn’t kill you often makes you stronger. Be willing to take more risks in social situations and the worst that can happen is you’ll learn something new about yourself.

I assure you that if you can adopt this new attitude about your social life the you’ll begin to see noticeable improvement. How you think (and the beliefs you have about your world) have a tremendous effect on how you act and the results you get at life. Be mindful of your thoughts and beliefs when going into social situations, and you’ll be able to improve yourself with time.

Garlic Herb To Lower Cholesterol

Having high cholesterol is never a good thing as it can cause various health problems. Many people continue to take prescriptions that have been prescribed by their doctor in order to lower those levels. However, they may not realize that long-term use of those prescriptions could lead to other problems, such as heart failure. Don’t worry, because taking prescription medication prescribed by your doctor is not the only way to lower those levels. There are many other ways that you can reduce those levels. For example, we know of a good herb to lower cholesterol. That secret plant (it’s not so secret) is known as garlic.

Garlic is a plant that may remind you a lot of the onion and the leek. This is because it is closely related to those two. Of course, some people find it hard to get past the odor. In fact, this plant is also known as “the stinking rose.”

This plant has a variety of useful purposes. Many individuals use it to flavor their foods, which is great. It is also known for killing fungi and bacteria that can cause digestive disorders.

Another benefit of garlic is to reduce the clotting properties of the blood. However, one of the most popular values of garlic would be the fact that it helps reduce those cholesterol levels.

Despite all of the research that has been done, many people still question it and wonder if garlic really works. Those cholesterol lowering abilities of this plant seem to depend on the amount you take each day. It seems that the more you consume in a given day, the lower those levels are going to be. However, there are some studies that have been conducted that show the cholesterol lowering effect in this plant could be temporary. More research needs to be conducted in order to see if this is true or not. For now, one thing is for sure and that is the fact that it really does reduce the levels in the system, as long as you consume a good amount of it each day.

Of course, there is also the ongoing debate on which form of it you should consume in order to reduce those levels. The forms include oil, tablet, raw, extract or powder. Many studies suggest that when you take it in powder form, it is going to have less allicin in it. Allicin is known for being the active ingredient.

When you do choose to use this as a natural remedy, there are some things that you should take into consideration. First of all, it is important to let your doctor know that you are taking this supplement, because it could interact with certain medication or other conditions that you may have.

You should also realize the side effect. The most notable side effect is the fact that when you consume it, it is going to continue to linger around on your breath as well as your body.

In addition to this, if you are currently using any type of blood thinner or you will be going through surgery in the near future, you should avoid using garlic. This is because it can reduce your bodies ability to clot blood.

To conclude, garlic can be an effective herb to lower cholesterol. However, there are many other herbs that can be used to lower your cholesterol. If you or a loved one has high cholesterol, please keep learning everything that you can about naturally lowering cholesterol.

Alcohol and Your Health

I guess this is for my younger audience of viewers/subscribers. Hey I still like to consider myself relatively young. You know my grandpa is almost like 100 years old, and he always told me “You’re as young as you feel”. I always liked that, especially when it’s coming from a guy who’s in his 90’s and has as much energy as the roadrunner. You know, he’s right though. Anyway, speaking of something that can shave a couple years off our own life expectancies. That’s right guys, partying.

Maybe you’re still young, or maybe you’re still wild, either way, stay cautious with this one. I mean if you smoke cigarettes that’s another thing, but if you drink in excess on a regular basis, no good no good no good. I think in our country, alcohol and cigarettes kill more people than anything else, especially if you combine their yearly fatalities. Now that’s a statistic if I ever saw one. Now I’m not saying if you party a lot you’re going to die, noooo. What I am saying is that it can affect your bodies composition and overall health all in due time. I guess what I’m recommending is that you pace yourself in this scene. Remember, everything in moderation. That’s a phrase we’ve heard countless times throughout all our lives, but it’s true to the core.

If you’re going to drink, but you don’t want to pack on those calories, stay away from all those thick and creamy dark lagers. If you want to smoke, um, well I don’t have any advice here. Well I guess it all depends on what it is we’re talking about. For all those cannabis users out there, hey that’s fine, whatever floats your boat. But the same philosophy behind smart partying still applies even with cannabis use, everything in moderation. Getting completely drunk or whacked out of your skull is something of the past for most of us, but for some reason we’re tempted to go back to it every once and a while huh? Yeah I know, hey me too. Just try not to forget about the repercussions, and then you’ll completely reassess the night even before it begins.

I would say drinking is the worst thing for your system. It can ruin your liver, and not only affect the interior, but skew your exterior. I mean, making decisions’ that you’d normally never make sober. That’s my biggest complaint with it. Otherwise, hey I love drinkin’ just as much as the next guy. However, I save my gulping reflex usually for the weekends. I encourage this behavior because it can be fun, but I don’t condone anything party related in excess, well except maybe sex. Haha! No I’m just playing around, but I digress.

Tread softly is all I’m saying, work hard, play harder is another expression I’ve heard that can work in some lights. Drinking hard all the time because you have a highly demanding job doesn’t get the checkmark on my list. Maybe something more along the lines of staying out with friends until the sun comes up is a better example. Just remember, you don’t have a lot of dialogue with your body, so when you’re putting it through a party themed obstacle course, it won’t tell you what’s wrong until it’s already too late. And when it tells you, it won’t with a dialogue, but with gargles, cramps, and uncontrollable projectile vomiting. Just something I wanted to bring into perspective for you guys.

Make Smoking Less Pleasant

You will be surprised to know that experts sometimes recommend smoking MORE before quitting. Why you ask…. Smoking cessation experts think that if you can make smoking less pleasant it will be easier for you to quit. The logic is that if you start to associate smoking in bad feelings, that memory will last after quitting. There are a number of ways that you can make smoking feel awful.

  • Smoking by the clock is the most commonly recommended method. This means figuring out how many cigarettes you typically smoke during the waking hours of your day, then smoking that many per hour you are awake on a schedule. So if you are awake 17 hours a day and smoking usually smoke 2 packs of cigarettes, you will smoke at the beginning and middle of each hour all day. So for example, if you get up a 7:00 am, smoke a cigarette at 7:00, then 7:30, then 8:00, and so on. Or if you smoke significantly less than that just smoke at the typical time on the hour each hour. Just don’t smoke more than 4 cigarettes in one hour. The idea is that you will make yourself smoke a cigarette even if you don’t want to, making smoking unpleasant.
  • Another common recommendation by the experts is to switch brands of cigarettes or switch to a flavored cigarette like menthols. Menthols are a the only flavored cigarette available in the United States so if you are going to try a flavor you are limited. You have to make sure that if you switch to another brand, it is a brand that you don’t particularly enjoy the flavor of, that is assuming there is another brand that just doesn’t taste good to you. Either way, before quitting this is another way to make smoking less pleasant.
  • The prescription drug Chantix sort of works in this way. The drug works by stopping the absorbsion of nicotine into the neurons in the brain. Pfizer, the maker of Chantix, recommends smoking for at least a week while on Chantix. The purpose is somewhat similar, if nicotine is not being absorbed then smoking is just a burning sensation in the mouth and lungs and therefore unpleasant.
  • There is another product sold in Europe that is the exact same idea, blocking nicotine absorbtion, but is not a pill and so doesn’t mess with your brain and cause awful side effects like suicidal thoughts. The product is a liquid that is injected into the filter of the cigarette right before smoking. The liquid sucks up the nicotine and so it never enters your body with the smoke.

Then are the mental tricks. I always like to remind people how unglamorous cigarettes really are with pictures of someone really unattractive smoking.

These tricks to make smoking less pleasant may or may not work to help you finally quit. There are statistics that show people only actually enjoy the first few cigarettes of the day, and the rest are only smoked out of habit or cravings for nicotine. Either way, any of these tricks are definitely worth a try, anything to help kick the habit.

Understanding Your Metabolism

Metabolism is a word that surely means a lot to those who are trying to lose weight. It will be even more important to those who have tried all diets and counted calories all their lives, only to feel like their battle with the bulge will never be over. Of course, when it comes down to this, it’s only metabolism that matters. The word can have a lot of meanings because it is a body process that functions in multiple ways. However, for a weight-watcher, metabolism is simply the process that burns unwanted fat and sheds off unwanted weight. The slower the metabolism, the slower the fat burns. The faster it is, the shorter the route to a leaner, healthier body.

If you find yourself struggling with metabolism issues, you’ll never be able to make them work for unless you understand the factors behind them. So if you’re serious about keeping that weight off, get to know these factors, understand them and determine how you may be able to work around them so you can improve your metabolic rate and make it your ally in your fight for fitness.

You’ve heard it all before but yes, there are many factors involved in the rate at which your body metabolizes the food you eat. The first one you’d like to consider might be age. It may be frustrating for those who are on the older end of the spectrum but age does contribute to how fast or slow one’s metabolism will be. When you’re younger, everything involved in your fat-burning process is young. That means optimal performance. But as you age, this performance deteriorates as well, so the most obvious conclusion is, younger means faster metabolism and older means slower metabolism. You will simply have to deal with that.

The good thing is, it’s not only age that affects how you burn fat. That means there are many ways for you to compensate. One is by exercising more. The more you move, the more you help your metabolism pick up speed and the faster you burn fat. You’ll have to take into consideration though that the greater your muscle mass, you’ll burn that fat even faster. This is why people are often advised to go weight-training so they build more muscle and burn more fat.

One common misconception about losing weight is that the fewer calories you consume the more fat you’ll lose. This is not entirely true because the body has a natural buffer system which tells you to burn fewer calories when you don’t consume enough calories. It is good to limit your caloric intake, but to have less than what your body requires is only going to boomerang on your weight loss efforts because you’ll only end up burning less fat.

Other causes of slow metabolism can be genetic or acquired defects of the thyroid gland which regulates metabolic activity. In these cases, medical intervention may be required. Some people even have to undergo surgery to improve their thyroid functions.

Dealing With Gout

While gout is considered a form of arthritis, it is actually more along the lines of a kidney difficulty. That’s because gout is caused by uric acid crystals dropped off into your joints, usually starting with your right big toe.

The function of your kidneys is to remove impurities such as uric acid from your blood stream and expel it in urine. If there is an overabundance of this waste product, or if your kidneys don’t function properly, it simply gets recirculated. As it increases, it forms the crystals. When they become too heavy to be moved easily, they get left behind.

There are two steps to relieving gout and preventing a relapse. One is to get rid of the acid and the other is to reduce inflammation. Both steps can be done, and often with home remedies. To help you find the answers you need, let me pose some of the questions I get asked on the topic:

1) What causes uric acid to be formed? It’s a waste product of a component of protein, called purine. Purine can be found in all protein sources, including vegetables like beans.

2) How can I prevent buildup? Watch the purine content of what you eat. While most people say that you should avoid all red meat, I suggest you eliminate foods by the level of purine in them, no matter what the product. There are some cuts of both beef and pork that have less than boneless/skinless chicken breast.

3) I’m having a flare up right now, what should I do? Cut back on protein, drink cherry juice and eat a lot of red fruits and vegetables. While tart cherries and the juice are the best, strawberries and even apples can help. Watch the sugar content, as adding high fructose corn syrup can make other conditions, such as diabetes, worse.

4) Besides protein, what else do I need to watch? Some medications and herbs could cause flare ups. A good example is aspirin. While low dose aspirin therapy may not be as harmful, doses higher than 80 mgs are a prime suspect in exacerbating the problem. For the same reason, don’t use products containing willow bark, as it is the exact same chemical. Don’t stop taking any medication without the approval of your physician, particularly if you have a serious health concern such as heart disease.

It’s a good idea to stay in touch with your doctor after you’ve been diagnosed with gout. The high volume of uric acid can cause damage to your kidneys. If left unattended, it could lead to renal failure and death.

Eating Disorder

Affluent addiction victims typically seek treatment from elegant luxury rehabs. Unfortunately, that search is often impeded by a dearth of reliable information about the luxury rehabilitation industry.

That’s about to change.

LuxuryDrugRehab.com is pleased to announce a new referral service linking affluent addiction victims to the best eating disorder treatment on earth. The goal of LuxuryDrugRehab.com is to help those victims find the facility that’s exactly right for them. To do that, the service provides clients with expert personal advice and a thorough understanding of the treatment options available to them.

For recovery patients and their families, that sort of enlightenment can often make all the difference in the world.

Private luxury eating disorder rehabs are only as successful as the caregivers the employ. Addiction is a personal problem, after all, and recovery must be a people-driven process. The best rehab facilities are invariably those staffed by the most competent and compassionate professionals. In the end, any inferior standard of service is simply unacceptable.

But those principles aren’t always put into practice.

It’s one thing for an eating disorder treatment center to pay lip service to the importance of caregiver expertise. It’s quite another for that facility to live up to its own rhetoric. The unfortunate truth is that many of the most “exclusive” eating disorder rehabs in Los Angeles employ inexperienced or unqualified counselors and therapists. As should go without saying, these institutions routinely fall short of the promises they make to their clients.

Given the stakes in the fight against addiction, those sorts of failures can lead to disaster.

No eating disorder victim needs to be told about the perils of the disease. The good news here is that those perils don’t have to be fatal, provided that victims get the right kind of support on the road to recovery. LuxuryDrugRehab.com has proven itself capable of helping clients take the first step towards a healthier future. As those clients have learned firsthand, no service could ever be more valuable than that one.

Brain Aneurysm

Brain aneurysm is basically a bulge in one of the arteries in the brain. This ballooning can leak or rupture, resulting in bleeding taking place into the brain. This usually takes place between the brain and tissues surrounding it. This type of hemorrhagic stroke is known as subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Mexican pharmacy online no prescription
This condition can lead to a life-threatening situation, requiring immediate treatment. The person who is suffering from it may end up with brain damage, resulting to death. It is estimated that in every fifteen people in America, one is likely to develop brain aneurysm during the course of their lifetime.

Immediate treatment becomes essential in this case, as any delay would lead to irreversible damage. The goals of treatment regarding brain aneurysm include putting the bleeding to a stop and preventing permanent damage from occurring to the brain. In addition, the risk or reoccurrences are also reduced.

The risk factors that are responsible for the start of this disease include smoking, use of alcohol or oral contraceptives and hypertension. This may also take place if the individual has experienced a traumatic head injury. In case the disease is present in family history, the likelihood would increase greatly.

The most common symptom associated with this disease is severe headache. There are several other symptoms although not every individual would go through them. These include vomiting and nausea, stiff neck or pain in the neck, pain above or in the eye, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of sensation, seizures, loss of consciousness, and dilated pupils.

Before the occurrence of an aneurysm rupture, patients may go through no symptoms. However, around forty percent of people who would be experiencing unruptured aneurysms experience the following:

There might be sudden, evident changes in behavior patterns, complications of speech, thinking, processing and perceptual problems, loss of balance and coordination, difficulty in concentrating, and short-term memory loss. The person may also feel fatigue. Diagnostic neuroradiology is frequently used to diagnose these symptoms as being that of brain aneurysm, as these can also be easily related to other medical conditions.
